Artist's Comments

This is a shot of a male Blackbird not looking very black!!!!! This bird is nearly 100% Albino, only his eyes have any colour pigment they would be pink to be a pure Albino. This was a very difficult shot to get to, his behaviour is totaly different to the normal blackbirds. i noticed he prefered to stay low on the ground and in bushes, he would sooner run off than fly away probably down to the fact he would be a sitting duck for predators. Also the other blackbirds came across as looking out for him, they came out and he followed.

Wow, what a lottery winning capture! I would love to be able to see an albino blackbird, or any bird, even though I know it is supposed to be a negative genetic mutation, it really is a sight to see :)

Before I read your description I was like "Blackbird? This does not look black at all!" But then like I said, I read your description then it made sense :P

The only albino (or even close) animals I have ever seen have been in zoos, so even a partial albino is still a sight, imho :)
